Under-fire Houllier defiant

Aston Villa boss Gerard Houllier has claimed he is at 'the wrong club' if his position is already in doubt.

The Frenchman was named as Martin O'Neill's successor in September but his tenure has got off to an uninspiring start, with just five wins from 17 under Houllier seeing Villa slide into the bottom half.

The former Liverpool manager came under fire from some Villa fans following their 4-0 defeat at Manchester City last week and they head into Sunday's trip to defending champions Chelsea just one point and two places above the relegation zone.

Villa owner Randy Lerner is thought to remain behind Houllier, who believes February would be a fairer time to judge his work at the club, when the senior players returning from injury are back to full fitness.

Houllier said: "Am I fighting for my job? I don't think so. If I have to do that, then I am in the wrong club.
