Pöyry awarded owner's engineering services contract totalling EUR 2.5 million for new coal fired power plant in Cambodia

Pöyry's Energy Business Group has been awarded an Owner's Engineering services. Contract for the planned 2x55 MW coal fired power plant in Stung Hav, Sihanoukville, Cambodia by Cambodian Energy Limited (CEL). CEL is a wholly owned subsidiary of Leader Universal Holdings Berhad of Malaysia,organised under the law of Cambodia. The value of the assignment is about EUR 2.5 million. Under this assignment, Pöyry will perform the design review of the EPC delivery of the
power plant and provide construction supervision and project management services to the Client. The duration of the Owner's Engineering services is 33 months.
Cambodia Energy Limited will build this power plant under Power Purchase Agreement with Electricite Du Cambodge (EDC) and supply power to the Cambodian grid. Parallel to the construction of the plant, which will deliver power to Cambodian people by early 2013, EDC will construct a transmission line to Phnom Penh to distribute the power to the users around the capital.

Pöyry has been involved in the previous stages of this project and assisted the Client in the tendering and negotiation process of the EPC contract.
