The chief executive of Swimming New Zealand, Mike Byrne, says his athletes may take part in another competition if the Games are cancelled.

"If the unthinkable happens and the Commonwealth Games are cancelled, one of the things that we need to look at is whether there's some other competition that all these swimming bodies involved in the Commonwealth Games could pull together to organise," Mr Byrne said.
Swimming Australia has confirmed that it is looking into alternatives if the Games are scrapped.
But the Australian swim team says none its athletes has withdrawn from the Games.
The 52-member team will fly out of Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne on Friday night and Saturday.
Canada has told its athletes to delay travelling to New Delhi.
Two Canadians have decided to pull out of games altogether.
Canada's chef de mission for the Games, Martha Deacon, says the main concerns are the health and safety of the athletes.
Swimming Australia has confirmed that it is looking into alternatives if the Games are scrapped.
But the Australian swim team says none its athletes has withdrawn from the Games.

New Zealand's Prime Minister John Key says if the Delhi event does not go ahead, it could spell the end of the Commonwealth Games.
"I think if the Commonwealth Games doesn't go ahead, that would have significant implications for the future of the Commonwealth Games, and that's not something we'd like to see," he said.
"It also wouldn't be good for India. It's always been our position that we hope the Games can go ahead and that we hope New Zealand athletes will be safe and sound as they carried out their sporting events." (From ABC News)
