Front News understands Aston Villa have tabled a new, improved offer for Blackpool midfielder Charlie Adam.
Villa had a £2.5million bid for Adam rejected earlier this week with Blackpool boss Ian Holloway insisting they were under no pressure to sell the Scotland international.
However, Villa have stepped up their interest in the former Rangers man by increasing their offer to £3.5million.
Villa are now waiting to see if their improved offer will tempt Blackpool into selling their prize asset in this month's transfer window.
A number of Premier League clubs, including Birmingham and Blackburn, are keen on signing Adam, but Villa are determined to win the race for the 25-year-old.
Adam has 18 months to run on his contract at Bloomfield Road and Blackpool would be loath to lose the schemer at such a key stage of the season as they look to secure survival.
