Steward wants Wlad vs Haye

Emanuel Steward is still hoping Wladimir Klitschko and David Haye work out their differences and fight each other later this year.

A date of July 2 was reportedly agreed but Klitschko then re-scheduled his fight with Dereck Chisora for April 30, signalling to the Haye camp that their unification fight was off.

Haye is now looking to make a mandatory defence against Ruslan Chagaev in May, despite Steward insisting Klitschko will still be up for the July date.

"Wladimir says he intends to be ready to fight on July 2," said Steward, Klitschko's trainer. "I would like to see it.

"David is a very talented fighter. I like him. I needle him a lot back and forth because he likes to do the media hype, but I respect him a lot."

However, Steward is wary of the challenge posed by the inexperienced Chisora, who has nothing to lose in challenging the reigning WBO and IBF champion.

"To me, the confidence, the ambition, the burning desire of a fighter is a lot more dangerous to me than that of an experienced fighter," said Steward.

"I've always felt that Chisora was a tough fight and I'm really not that super excited about it."

Chisora is the current British and Commonwealth champion and was hand-picked by the Klitschko team for a voluntary defence.
