Russians move for Caley ace

Front News understands that Inverness Caledonian Thistle have received a formal offer for Adam Rooney from Kuban Krasnodar.

Reports emerged last week that the Russian outfit had moved for the free-scoring 22-year-old, something manager Terry Butcher swiftly rebuffed.

Butcher was quoted that the approach was pure speculation and labelled it as 'nonsense', however, a bid has now been lodged with the Scottish Premier League side.

Caley Thistle are now mulling over the six-figure sum for their top scorer, who is out of contract at the end of the season.

Rooney is believed to be interested in a Russian switch and following in the footsteps of Aiden McGeady and Garry O'Connor by playing in the country.
