Everton boss David Moyes insists Phil Neville is staying at the club despite interest from Tottenham.
Tottenham have been linked with a shock move for the Toffees defender during this month's transfer window as Harry Redknapp looks to bolster his squad.
Redknapp was remaining coy about any move for Neville earlier on Tuesday after revealing his admiration for the ex-Manchester United star.
Moyes has confirmed Tottenham made an enquiry for Neville, but that the North London club were informed the the 33-year-old was not for sale.
"I spoke with Harry Redknapp briefly before the transfer window opened," Moyes told the club's official website.
"Daniel Levy and Bill (Kenwright) had an even briefer conversation at our recent game against Spurs and mutually agreed that this would go no further.
"At no time was any offer made - nor would one have been welcomed. Phil Neville is our captain and is an important part of the Everton set-up."
