Bolton suffered a 1-0 Carling Cup upset on their visit to manager Owen Coyle's former club Burnley on Tuesday night.
A hostile reception greeted Trotters boss Coyleas he returned to his old stomping ground, marking his first visit back since he controversially stepped down as Clarets boss to take over at the Reebok Stadium in January.
And the manager's woes continued as Wade Elliott, whose goal at Wembley took Burnleyand Coyle into the Premier League 17 short months ago, found the back of the net on the stroke of half-time to seal the home side's victory over their Premier League visitors.
