CITY Hall has outlawed the posting of advertisements on trees and in other public places near Wat Phnom, according to an order issued last week. The order, signed by Phnom Penh Governor Kep Chuktema, stated that the posting of such ads around the iconic pagoda resulted in disorder, and called on authorities to confront violators “face to face” and issue fines. Hao Sinith, the chief of Wat Phnom commune, said he had received the order and had told companies to remove advertisements that were not approved by municipal authorities.
