Evra plays down unbeaten run

Patrice Evra insists no-one at Manchester United is placing too much importance on maintaining their unbeaten run.

The Red Devils made it 26 Premier League games, and 21 this season, without defeat with a 0-0 draw at Tottenham on Sunday.

That point was enough to take them back to the top of the table, edging them ahead of arch-rivals Manchester City with two games in hand.

That impressive record has seen United emerge as the side to beat in the title race this term, but Evra claims no discussions have been held within the camp regarding the prospect of going an entire season without suffering a setback.

"Nobody in the squad is talking about that challenge. We're only talking about winning the league. That's the most important thing," the French full-back told MUTV following the stalemate at White Hart Lane.

"Today, all the country was against Manchester United - everybody wanted us to lose. But we didn't lose. [Winning the league without losing a game] is a great challenge for us, but the most important thing is to win the league."

Evra, aware that pressure is mounting on United as they prolong their long unbeaten run, feels a point away at Spurs was a good result, especially as Harry Redknapp's side remain in the title hunt themselves.
