Wigan host Arsenal in an intriguing clash of sides needing the points at opposite ends of the table.
Third-from-bottom Latics dropped back into the relegation zone on goal difference without playing on Tuesday, while third-placed Gunners are now three points off the top two following Manchester United's draw at Birmingham and Manchester City's romp over Aston Villa.
It was a similar top-versus-bottom clash last April which saw Roberto Martinez's side pull off an amazing comeback with three goals in the last 10 minutes to beat the Gunners 3-2 and secure their top-flight status.
Martinez would love a similar result this time and his side go into the game on a high after beating Wolves on Boxing Day - their third match unbeaten since the 2-0 Carling Cup defeat to the Gunners at the end of November.
But Arsenal will also be in confident mood after finally beating champions Chelsea, although they have had a day less to prepare for this tie.
As an added incentive to get their shooting boots on, Wenger's side can go top if they win by five clear goals.
