McCarthy: Desperate to climb away from bottom spot
Gerrard: Returns from hamstring injury suffered in mid-November
Captain Steven Gerrard is set to make his long-awaited return to Liverpool's first team when the Premier League's bottom club, Wolves, arrive at Anfield on Wednesday night.
The England international has been missing since he sustained a grade two hamstring tear in the miserable friendly defeat to France at Wembley on 17th November.
But Gerrard has been fit for a couple of weeks and his return to Roy Hodgson's starting XI has only been delayed by the freezing weather-enforced postponements of matches against Fulham and Blackpool.
Wolves will therefore be ruing their luck that Liverpool will be welcoming back their best player at a time when Mick McCarthy and his players are absolutely desperate for points.
