Blackburn caretaker coach Steve Kean hopes the club's January business will convince Christopher Samba to stay.
Rovers are expected to dip into the New Year transfer window, with the club's new owners keen to make their mark.
Adding fresh faces to the ranks will be a priority, but retaining the services of key personnel will also be important.
That includes former skipper Samba, who has expressed a desire to move on in the wake of Sam Allardyce's controversial dismissal.
Kean insists the commanding centre-half could yet be persuaded to change his mind, especially as he has been made aware of the club's plans for the coming weeks.
He said: "When I told Chris the plans for the transfer window he was very positive so hopefully he can look at it in a different light now and hopefully he will stay.
"Since I came back [from meeting the new owners in India] and explained what is going to be happening they [senior players] have been reassured and I don't think there has been anything negative.
"We will be submitting a list to the owners and it is inevitable we will be bringing in at least a few bodies, because we are thin on the ground a bit in key positions."
